STORY
Having taken up orienteering at school, Oliver progressed exceptionally quickly outperforming many established orienteers and has since represented Great Britain at European and World Championships competing all across the world. Moreover during 2018/19 Oliver was the South Australian Coaching Scholar. As a result of this, Oliver fully understands the benefits and challenges of promoting this fantastic sport, widening its outreach and thus increasing participation. The answer - promoting orienteering within the curriculum for its inherent and diverse combination of educational and physical merits.

MERITS
Orienteering combines cross country running with navigating your way around a set mapped course and therefore promotes physical fitness, navigation, decisiveness, alertness and perseverance - it is thus great for the physical and mental development of pupils. Orienteering is ideal for mixed abilities and various ages as it allows boys and girls to compete together whilst also supporting cross-curricular subjects such as Maths, English and Geography.
